Announces ISO 9001:2008 Certification

Vermes Machine Co., Inc. and it’s subsidiary, Kern & Szalai Machine LLC have earned ISO 9001:2008 certification after two extensive audits performed by BSI (British Standards Institution), the world’s first national standards body and one of the most highly respected suppliers of standard’s related services. BSI’s assessment was based on a thorough sample of Vermes’ site, functions, products, services and processes.

President and ISO Representative Erwin Vermes feels the certification is a significant indicator of a policy that constantly maintains and updates all aspects of the organization. He added, “We continually strive to improve in every area of our business. Whether it’s through purchasing new equipment or updating our Quality Management System to comply with ISO, we want to do everything we can to improve our operations.”

Becoming ISO 9001:2008 certified took a complete effort from all departments of the companies. “This certification is really a testament to the employees of Vermes and Kern & Szalai, and their dedication to being a part of the team atmosphere we have strived to establish over the past 30 years,” says Mike Vermes Jr., Vice President of Vermes Machine Co., Inc. “In this industry, that mentality is vital to meeting customer demands and developing strong, lasting relationships.”

With a Quality Management System that had been compliant to ISO standards for close to 10 years, Vermes Machine finally decided to become ISO certified after seeing a few customers begin to install plans to procure from ISO registered vendors in the future.

“The process of becoming ISO certified took a lot of hard work, but was made easier by our employee’s already present comfort level in our prior QMS system,” Erwin stated.

Mike went on to add, “We hope this certification not only opens new doors, but helps keep old relationships strong, giving our customer base the comfort of knowing we continually strive to meet and exceed the benchmark for excellence in quality.”
